  • Some of the best treasure ever found with a metal detector!

Detectorists from all over the world continue to find epic treasures, buried from humans for decades, sometimes even centuries - here's a handful of some of the greatest finds ever dug up by amateur hobbyists:

Derek Mclennans massive haul of over 100 items in Scotland back in 2014 was hailed as the countries most significant metal detecting find ever, consisting of a ninth century solid silver cross, a silver pot, lots of gold objects, an incredibly rare silver cup and more that dated back to the roman empire. He was awarded approximately $2.5 Million for the find and the haul now lives in the museum.

In July 2009 Terry Herbert was detecting some farmland close to his home in Staffordshire in the English countryside when he came ac cross a massive hoard of gold, enough to fill over 344 bags worth! This triggered a full archaeological expedition which lead to over 3500 significant pieces representing hundreds of complete and intact objects! The haul was dated to anglo-saxon times and was valued at a cool $5.3 million. The find has since been written about in the famous book: The Staffordshire Hoard: An anglo-Saxon Treasure.

Mike Demar was diving off the coast in key west back in 2008, he presumed he was clearing more trash off the floor but when he removed the sediment he discovered nearly a pound of gold in the form of an old chalice, approximately 385 years old which came from an old Spanish ship - the Santa Margarita which sank back in 1622, The gold was valued at a whopping $1 Million!

    rarepenny

Coin shooting is the term used for the popular hobby of going to local banks and exchanging large currency, or purchasing smaller coin currency, usually stored at banks in "paper rolls" There are still many rare coins in circulation today. Many of the silver coins that were minted are still mixed in these coin rolls banks use for change. Say you buy $50 worth of nickles, or dimes, then find a rare date or mint, or even better, a miss strike (ike a miss print with notes where the coin has mint imperfections) - These rare finds can be worth an absolute fortune to coin collectors!

With the advancing technology of coin sorting and returns, nowadays it's incredibly easy to return opened rolls of coins back to banks and simply deposit the coins back through a sorting machine into your account.

we're read many stories of coin shooters finding massive jackpots hidden away in these rolls of coins, it's important to have a rough idea of what to look for before you begin however, there are many guides and pictures online that can help you get started and show you what to look for. Always be on the lookout for miss prints and abnormalities as these unusual and extremely rare coins can fetch the most to certain collectors around the world since not many of them ever make circulation and are usually just destroy and remade at the mint before hitting the banks and eventually your purses and wallets!

Once you've found that treasure bug, give us a call and see about our metal detectors and packages so you can get out and start hunting that really old and rare treasure that's not been dug up yet!
